Creating your brochure for the residents at Cromarty Gardens Reserve
To complete your brochure you will need the following materials from our field trips -
· Site assessment
· Water quality testing data
· Macro invertebrate recording sheet
· Any photos that were taken during the three field trips.
Some tips on how to prepare your brochure.
1. Include a full cover page with the title of your science report that includes the title of the project and your names,
2. Introduction - Explain the purpose of your science brochure. The purpose explains the nature of the project eg, why did we go to Cromarty Gardens. You may decide to include a background section that describes what you knew about Cromarty Gardens before you conducted any research at the site.
3. Sub-heading – Site Assessment. Use your findings from the site survey to create two paragraphs describing your findings of Cromarty Gardens. Include photographs of the site and include captions.
4. Sub-heading- Water Quality. Use your findings from the Water Quality testing to create one paragraph describing your findings. Include any photos taken on the day of the water quality testing field trip. Include captions.
5. Sub-heading – Macro-invertebrate Sampling. Use the data on the Macro-invertebrate recording sheet to summarise your findings on the macro-invertebrate evident at the site. You will need one or two paragraphs to summarise your findings. You will need to discuss whether the macros were sensitive or tolerant and what this indicates.
6. Sub-heading - Recommendations – Compile one or two paragraphs with your recommendations for Cromarty Gardens. What can be done to improve conditions for residents using the reserve? How can people in the community work together to maintain the ecosystem at the wetlands?
7. Conclusion - Write a conclusion that sums up your science project. Indicate what you would have done differently, or any information that would benefit someone who was following in your footsteps to replicate this project or wanting to conduct further research at the site.
Mrs Cogger willed to view your brochure with you before giving you permission to print it. Deb Taborda is interested in reading the brochures and there are several community groups interested in our findings eg, SERCUL and the City of Gosnells. Your brochures will be circulated to these people. So take care to do your very best work and ensure you have edited your work.
